The Future of the Executive MBA in Media and Communication at the University of St. Gallen (HSG)
The Executive MBA in Media and Communication was offered for the first time in 2000. Prof. Dr. Peter Glotz built up and led the program. All seats in the program were filled in its first year, with more that 50% of the students coming from abroad. The following years were increasingly affected by the recession, which was especially apparent in the media industry. Despite this, we were still able to recruit a considerable number of highly qualified candidates, and therefore successfully carry out the program.
Given today's market situation, the HSG has decided not to offer the Executive MBA in Media and Communication in its current form in 2005. In the course of the reorganization of the post-graduate study programs of the University of St. Gallen, a new English-language, full time MBA will be launched, which will include the subject matter of the former EMBA. Executive MBA in Media and Communication applicants have the possibility to apply for admission to the new MBA program. They can pursue a specialization in media and communication through project work and a thesis as well as electives in media and communication.
With respect to the expansion of the Executive MBA offerings at the University of St. Gallen, starting in 2006 the addition of a part time, special program in media and communication will be considered..
